About
A mix of original compositions penned by its bandleader and popular jazz standards presented in a straight ahead fashion make up the repertoire of the Christoph Lehner Quintet. The group, formed around sax player Christoph Lehner, consists of Italian singer Alice Viola, who presents the compositions in a great variety of moods and languages, pianist André Schwager, bass player Peter Cudek and Christos Asonitis on drums. The quintet draws from the African-American sound language and pairs it with European traditions of musical storytelling such as the French chanson and the Italian canzone. A great emphasis is put on an effective musical structure of the showcased tunes, a great joy of playing and improvising as well as on a major emotionality of musical performance.
