In March, the jazz jam sessions at Jazzclub Unterfahrt will be hosted by bassist Ilan Gold. As always, newcomers are warmly invited to join. Those stepping onto the stage with Gold and his band should be aware that his primary focus is on honesty, truth, and authenticity—regardless of whether he is playing his own compositions or using standards from the Great American Songbook as a foundation. For this specialist of the “deep tones,” empty phrases, clichés, and superficiality have no place in music.
