The three musicians first met and developed a mutual appreciation while working on a project with the Munich Modern Jazz Orchestra, performing the compositions of Astor Piazzolla arranged for big band. This collaboration sparked the idea of performing together in a smaller, chamber-music setting, as the intimate combination of accordion, clarinet, and guitar is the perfect medium for the soul and intensity of Piazzolla’s tangos. In this formation, Vladislav Cojocaru showcases his incredible virtuosity on the accordion, complemented by Mark Pusker’s lyrical tone on the clarinet.
The ensemble’s repertoire is further enriched by original compositions from guitarist Thomas Wecker, during which Pusker frequently switches to alto or soprano saxophone, and increasingly to the resonant bass clarinet. For their upcoming performance, the trio is thrilled to be joined by virtuoso bassist Heiko Jung. Best known for his world-class precision and energy with the progressive metal-jazz band Panzer Ballett, Jung brings a unique depth to the group’s sound. From passionate tangos and original works to beloved jazz standards, Bossa Nova classics, and pop hits, the quartet offers a diverse and captivating musical journey.
